Every year the Call of Duty series returns with a new take on its familiar formula. As new campaigns arise and new tweaks hit multiplayer, the series continues selling into the high millions. Activision just showed off Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3‘s new multiplayer in action, but has it changed enough to draw in the non-believers and please longtime fans?

The multiplayer action in COD: MW3 is not a ground-breaking game changer. Sure you’ll find new weapons, new modes, new streaks, and new maps, but it’s really the same game. The developers claim it’s the most balanced Call of Duty yet, but it’s too early to tell if that’s true. So far, it looks like Modern Warfare 3 takes a successful formula, changes a few elements, and continues to polish something that millions of players love. The multiplayer’s fast and fun, so a lot of the smaller tweaks come down to personal preference.
