Is the PS3 functionally comparable and as easy to use as a standard Blu-ray Player?

In approximately the last year (since Blu-ray won the “battle of the formats” agains Toshiba’s HD DVD) statistics show that 10.7 million Blu-ray players  have been sold in the U.S. The Sony PS3 accounts for over two-thirds of those sales, with a whopping 70%! And no wonder… from the moment you insert a Blu-ray movie in the drive, you will be astounded by the picture quality. The Blu-ray Player of choice: The Playstation 3

In addition to traditional composite and AV connections, it also includes a High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) port, which sends uncompressed, unconverted digital audio and video to HD TVs and projectors. The PS2 is capable of 128-bit pixel precision and 1080p resolution, delivering a complete HD experience.

Blu-Ray
Games for Sony’s Playstation 3 are encoded using the Blu-Ray disc format, which is capable of storing six times more data than traditional DVDs. In fact, it has been reported that the Playstation 3 is such a high-quality Blu-Ray device, that many people in the market for a Blu-Ray player choose the PS3. No PS2 Compatibility
